How far in advance do I need to book for alterations?Depending on how much work we are looking to do on a gown, we can start booking as early as 18 months prior to the event, but we always leave the final fitting no more than 2/3 weeks before the event in order to make sure we have the best possible fit on the big day. For most cases, 6 months ahead is the perfect window of time however, we cannot guarantee availability, especially during our busy periods, until we see you.
-
Do you charge for rush service? Our rates are dependant on the season and time we have available to complete the service, so a premium may be added to the cost if the deadline is extremely close.
-
What do I need to bring for the first fitting?Dresses & gowns require you to bring the undergarments that you will wear with the dress (bra, shapewear, crinoline, etc.) and the shoes you will wear. It’s also a good idea to bring any hair accessories and jewelry that will be worn with the gown. For suits, bring the shirt you will wear, as well as the belt and shoes. For everyday wear, make sure to wash them before alterations in case of shrinking, as well as the shoes and undergarments that you wear with it most often.
-
What kind of payment you accept and do you require a deposit? We accept all kinds of payment (Cash, Debit, Visa, Mastercard, E-transfer & more). For services under $100, we require full payment up front. For fees over $100, we require a deposit of at least 50%.
-
How long do fittings normally take?It depends on how much work is involved on the gown & what we are doing at the fitting. We want to get the right information and placement the first time, so most fittings will take from 15 minutes to 1 hour.
-
How many fittings do I need? For gowns, special occasion dresses, and custom projects, there is a minimum of three, but depending on the amount of alterations it may need to be more. For minimal alterations, such as hemming pants, two will usually suffice.
-
Are there extra charges for changes in the gown's fit due to physique?Depending on exactly what it needs to be modified on the dress after the body changes, and how many times we need to rework an alteration, there may be charges for additional work.
-
When can I pick up my wedding gown?We prefer gowns to be picked up 2 weeks before the wedding to make sure we have a good fit for the date. If the dress is picked up before that, it is your responsibility to try it on at least 10 days before the wedding and call us if there are any changes. We want you to have the perfect fit!
-
Where can I park?Feel free to park on the right side of the driveway as well as on the street where available.
-
Do you provide an estimate from a picture? We cannot provide any pricing until we actually see the dress/garment in person and work with you to decide what needs to be done, and what makes you happy with the overall fit. It is not possible to determine how the dress was made, the materials used, or how best to work with it from photos alone.
-
Is there a fee for the first consultation?Yes, we charge $120 as a fee for in-person consultations. We will waive this fee if you decide to continue with our services. Fittings that go longer than the 1 hour allotted can also incur additional charges.
